MS Dhoni Turns 36: His Hairstyles Through The Years

Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni has always been known for his unconventional hairstyle like his batting style, and he always loves to experiment with his hair like he does with his batting. From a Mohawk to a bald head, Dhoni has apparently done it all. From 2004, when he made his debut for India, to 2017 he has experimented with his hair styles through the years.

Instantly, Dhoni has become a national sensation and his hairstyle had been copied by everyone. In 2006, MS Dhoni changed the colour of his hair. It was long black with the golden bit no longer there; the style was easier to copy for fans.
In 2007, however, he cut short his hair style with a small spike in front following India’s 2007 World T20 victory over arch-rivals at New Wonderers.
His new hair style broke hearts of several fans. In fact, former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, who ushered praise Dhoni in 2004-2005, was upset with Dhoni’s new hairstyle.
In the following year, even the spike was not there and shades of the sides being trimmed and left his head with a little bit of hair.
In 2009, he changed the design again but the spike was there for the first few years. Once again, his side-burns had gone longer but he never let it grows like before.
But, in 2010 he had broken hearts of his fans again as he had a buzz cut in 2010. It was the first time in six years, Dhoni looked aged. In fact, his gray hair was visible on his face.
After winning the 2011 World Cup, Dhoni went bald overnight. Nobody could imagine that Dhoni would change his hair style.
In 2012, Dhoni’s love for his spikes was visible again. The faded sides had comeback which gave Dhoni a neat look.
In 2013, the spikes had gone and he sported a Mohawk that didn’t look classy at all but fans would nonetheless copy what he did.
But, till date, his most popular hair style was long blond hair style. When Dhoni waved his bat after scoring his maiden ODI hundred against Pakistan in Vizag fans went crazy. In the same year,Dhoni sporting the same hairdo hit his career-best 183 not out at the Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur 31, October 2005.

In 2014, Dhoni switched to a different style when he retired from Test cricket. In 2015, he switched back to the faded sides and spikes. But with the increasing gray hair on the sides, the charm might be back, but the class had gone.
Till 2017, he didn’t change his hair style but his spikes grow.
